A series of 4 macro images of the so-called Bog Bean (Latin name: Menyanthes Trifoliata) in flower in springtime. This rare plant is only found in the Hebrides off North-West Scotland and these four exceptional images were all taken on the Isle of Harris in May 2019. When in flower, as in these images, the thick stems are topped with delicate pink buds that emerge to form distinctive white flowers which reflect in the calm crystal clear waters of peat bog pools found all over the high ground of the island. As they mature they form floating mats which can be seen in these images under formation. The mats are used by dragonflies to provide egg laying sites.
