Photo showing the bright and extremely ornamental yellow flowers of a golden chain tree, more commonly known as common laburnum trees. The bright yellow flowers of a laburnum tree are most often seen in carefully-tended gardens. This one is growing semi-wild, in an area tended for public enjoyment for the last 100 years – Wandsworth Common in London, England. Laburnum is the name given to this plant by the Romans when they came to Britain. Beautiful but poisonous, the tree famously provided wood for cabinet makers. It is also known as golden chain, because of the way in which the yellow leguminous flowers dangle.
